Definitions

"Marvin" refers to the Discord bot and all associated software for running the Discord bot.
"Marvin creator" refers to those writing code for Marvin. It does not refer to those who only write code for the underlying libraries like nextcord.

Terms of Service

Marvin is provided without warranty of any kind.
While reasonable attempts are made to ensure Marvin remains operational and free of problems, Marvin and its creators are not liable for loss of data or any other negative outcomes arising from bugs, downtime, or other interactions with Marvin.

Marvin collects some information about your Discord account and data you submit. Read the Privacy Policy for a full breakdown.

When using Marvin, you warrant that you will keep the following rules:

  1. Do not attempt to hack or exploit bugs in Marvin
  2. Do not spam or otherwise manipulate Marvin's activity metrics
  3. When Marvin accepts input, such as through name entry fields in Marvin commands or your username or nickname, do not submit profanity or other objectionable content
  4. Follow Discord's Terms of Service
  5. If you are participating in an event with a Marvin creator and don't show up, you must give 2 hours notice or proof of an emergency situation

Breaking those rules may result in corrections to activity metrics, Imaginary Biscuit deductions or fines (unpaid fines will accumulate a 300% yearly interest rate), some or all of your data being deleted, being banned from Marvin, or other actions deemed necessary to undo any damage caused and restrict future damage by Marvin's creators and their appointed agents.
Typical punishments are a ban or data reversion for breaking rule 1, activity metric correction and/or Imaginary Biscuit deductions for breaking rule 2, data deletion for breaking rule 3 and a 2 Biscuit fine for breaking rule 5, although they may vary depending on the severity and frequency of the offence.

This Terms of Service and Privacy Policy may be changed at any time. If it is changed, you will be notified via Discord Direct Message upon your next non-command message sent in a channel Marvin can read.

Privacy Policy

What we store:

When you post messages in a channel Marvin can read, a profile for your Discord account will be created.
This profile will include your Discord ID, the fact that you sent messages that day, a rough estimate of how much you sent, and may also include your username and/or nickname.
This data is stored for the purposes of maintaining and displaying activity metrics.

Some settings allow Marvin to send messages in response to certain keywords in other messages.
Be aware that certain keywords will send messages copying all or part of the original message and that all messages Marvin sends are logged to its creators although not automatically saved.

Marvin will save the contents of messages that are deleted. This can be disabled or redirected to a specific channel on a per server basis.
This relies on a message cache managed by external libraries which is not saved and is not 100% reliable. Marvin does not save messages in other situations.

Some subsystems of Marvin, such as the wizard MMO and the Imaginary Biscuit Network, accept name input in certain commands.
This data will be saved to be used for further operation of these subsystems.

What we use it for:

Your Discord name may be displayed for the purposes of activity leaderboards.
Your Discord nickname will only be displayed on the same server the nickname is on, for the aforementioned activity leaderboards.
The days on which you sent messages and how much was sent will be processed, and may be displayed on activity leaderboard.
Some commands related to the Imaginary Biscuit Network may show your Discord ID and token names you supplied (if applicable).
Some commands related to the wizard MMO may show the name you supplied for your wizard (if applicable)
